Prof. Ambuj Singh

Research interests: network science, cheminformatics & bioinformatics, graph querying and mining, and databases.

Ambuj Singh received a Masters in Computer Science from Iowa State University in 1984 and a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Texas in 1989. He joined the University of California at Santa Barbara in 1989, where he is currently a Full Professor.

Xifeng Yan

Research interests: Data mining, data management and machine learning, with emphasis on modeling, managing, and mining large-scale graphs and networks in bioinformatics, business processes, social networks, the Web, and computer systems.

 

Tobias Hollerer

Prof. Tobias Höllerer

Research interests: human-computer interaction and experimental systems. I am particularly interested in novel user interfaces that depart in interesting ways from the normal desktop setting. This includes such fields as augmented reality, virtual reality and other 3D user interfaces; interactive visualization and real-time computer graphics; 3D displays; wearable, situated, ubiquitous, and social computing; adaptive user interfaces; and multi-modal and multimedia computing.

B.S. Manjunath

Prof. B. S. Manjunath

Research interests: image/video analysis (including texture and shape analysis, segmentation, registration), multimedia databases and data mining (feature extraction, content based access, high dimensional indexing and similarity search), steganography (data hiding in images and video, and their detection), and signal/image processing for bio-informatics.

Prof. Manjunath directs the NSF/ITR funded Bio-Image Informatics Center and NSF sponsered IGERT program on Interactive Digital Multimedia. He is also associated with the interdisciplinary Multimedia Arts and Technology program and the Computer Science Department. Misael Mongiovi

Dr. Ziyu Guan

Research interests: information retrieval, machine learning and data mining.

Ziyu Guan is currently a Research scientist at the computer science department of UCSB. He received my PhD degree and his BS degree from Zhejiang University in 2010 and 2004, respectively.

Misael Mongiovi

Dr. Misael Mongiovi

Research interests: data mining, network analysis, bioinformatics.

Misael Mongiovì received his M.Sc. degree in Computer Science in 2003, and a Ph.D. in 2007 from the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Catania, headed by Prof. Alfredo Ferro. He has been a postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at University of Catania and subsequently at the Blavatnik School of Computer Science at Tel Aviv University. He joined the University of California at Santa Barbara in October 2010 as a Research Scientist.

Petko Bogdanov

Petko Bogdanov

Research interests: Querying and mining in networks.

Petko is currently involved in projects on mining dense components in time-evolving graphs, trust- and content-aware recommendation in social networks and synthesis and analysis of networks from collaboration. His past projects include nearest neighbors search in large graphs and molecular function prediction in gene networks.

Petko Bogdanov received his Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Systems and Technology from Technical University of Sofia, Bulgaria in 2005. He joined the University of California, Santa Barbara, PhD program in 2006.

Nick Larusso

Nick Larusso

Research interests: data mining, machine learning, uncertain data analysis.

Nick Larusso received his BS. in Computer Science and Engineering from The Ohio State University in June of 2006.

Kathy Macropol

Research interests: data mining, bioinformatics, graph mining.

Kathy Macropol received her BS in Chemistry from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2000, and her MS in Computer Science from Cal State University, Channel Islands in 2007. She joined the University of California, Santa Barbara, PhD program in 2007.

Kathy's current research projects include working on clustering algorithms for large graphs, as well as the mining of time-evolving graphs.

Arijit Khan

Research interests: Graph Mining, Data Mining, Algorithms and Social Networks.

Arijit is currently a PhD Candidate of the Department of Computer Science, University of California, Santa Barbara. His adviser is Prof. Xifeng Yan and he is working on various research projects related to mining and querying of large scale information and social networks. Arijit completed his BE (Bachelor of Engineering) from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Jadavpur University, India in 2008.

Nan Li

Research interests: data mining, graph theory, large scale information networks, machine learning, business analytics, etc.

Nan Li is currently a Ph.D. candidate at the Department of Computer Science, University of California, Santa Barbara. Her realm of research spans across data mining, graph theory, large scale information networks, machine learning, business analytics, etc. Recently she has been working on various research projects related to large scale graph mining and graph query answering, under the supervision of Professor Xifeng Yan.

She received her B.E. in Computer Science from Wuhan University in 2005 and her M.S. in Computer Science from Peking University in 2008.

Gengxin Miao

Research interests: large-scaled data mining, statistical machine learning, social network analysis, information extraction and information integration.

Gengxin Miao is a Ph.D. in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at UC Santa Barbara. Her advisors are Professor Louise E. Moser and Professor Xifeng Yan.

Jiejun Xu is currently a 4th year PhD student in Computer Science Department at the University of California, Santa Barbara. His advisor is Professor Bangalore S. Manjunath.

Shengqi Yang

Shengqi Yang

Research interests: large graph management and graph mining.

A first-year PhD student of the CS department at UCSB, Shengqi earned his B.S. and M.S. in Computer Science from BUPT, China. He is currently working with Prof. Xifeng Yan.
